OEM Residency and Other Educational Programs

OEM Residency and Other Educational Programs

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) has been a center for training in Occupational and Environmental Medicine (OEM) since 1977.

Graduates of our OEM residency program are leaders in environmental and occupational medicine in academics, government agencies, NGOs, and corporations. The program is accredited by ACGME and provides the knowledge and qualifications required for Board Certification in Occupational Medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine.

We accept applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and participate in the OEM residency Match, which takes place in March each year for a July start date. We welcome applications from physicians who have completed a minimum of one clinical internship year. We are also open to physicians who are interested in changing specialty after completing all or part of another residency. Those who already have an MPH or equivalent degree and are already Board certified in another specialty are eligible to complete training in our program in one year.
