OECM Resident Rupesh Patel, MD, PhD, MPH wins Best Original Research Award
Dr. Rupesh Patel, MD, MPH, PhD, has won the Western Occupational Health Conference (WOHC) 2024 best original research award. The conference is held by the Western Occupational & Environmental Medical Association (WOEMA). Dr. Patel’s title of his poster and talk was: "The Effect of Acute Exposure to Ambient Air Pollution on Respiratory Function of Children in Fresno.
Dr. Patel is currently a 2nd year OECM Resident Physician, his research interests are in both environmental medicine and occupational medicine, especially for underserved and vulnerable populations. Dr. Patel performed his research under the mentorship of Dr. Stephanie Holm and Dr. John Balmes.
Dr. Belafsky, who is on the executive board of the Western Occupational and Environmental Medicine Association, presents Dr. Patel with his award for Best Original Research.
